Analysts predict that the cost of damage caused by cybercrime will increase by 15 per cent per year over the next two years, reaching $10.5 trillion per year by 2025. According to Check Point, a cyber threat intelligence company, our country experiences more than 1,000 cyber attacks per organisation per week, making us one of the most frequently DDoS-attacked countries.
There is no indication that this is about to change. Cyber attacks will continue to be carried out with similar or greater frequency. Ransomware continues to be the main earning activity for cybercriminals, and this means that all issues related to system backups and hacker protection are top priority.
One of the most important rules of cyber hygiene is password strength. First and foremost, they should be difficult to guess for others but easy to remember for you, and should be at least 12 characters long. Importantly, they should also be unique — one password for one account. According to the recommendations of CERT Polska experts, passwords can be built using complete sentences containing at least five words. But how to remember it all? The best way is to store it in the safest place possible, which is a digital vault secured with unique cryptographic mechanisms.
